Racism in the world of work: workshop

Experiences | Effects | Solution Strategies

This workshop offers all interested parties an introduction to the topic of racism in the world of work. Through theoretical input and practical exercises, we will address the questions of how we recognize racism at the institutional level and what we as employees and companies can do to combat it. The aim is to decipher the mechanisms of racism in the world of work and to develop ideas on how we can influence the structures and staff of our institutions in order to make our working environments critical of racism and thus a safer place to work for all employees.

The speaker Modou Diedhiou:

Modou Diedhiou is a trainer for empowerment and racism-critical youth work in the sense of political education. Since 2008, he has regularly offered creative workshops and projects for young people. In 2018, he completed a Bachelor of Education (teaching degree) at the University of Osnabrück, majoring in “German” and “Islamic Religion”. Until 2020, he worked for various institutions as a pedagogical assistant and educational consultant.

Since 2020, he has been offering workshops on racism, empowerment, political youth education and rap for youth groups, school classes and multipliers nationwide on behalf of the “Schwarze Schafe” initiative. He also works as a moderator and actor.

This event takes place in the context of the event series SUMMER OF DIVERSITY (an initiative of the Heilbronn Anti-Discrimination Office) will take place. The series of events is dedicated to the topics of identity, respect and tolerance and runs from June to July 23, 2022. Heilbronn University is an official partner of the event.
