By amending the Corona Ordinance, which was passed at the meeting on January 24, 2023, the Baden-Württemberg state cabinet decided to lift the mask requirement. This affects the areas of local public transport (ÖPNV), facilities for the homeless and staff in medical practices, dental practices, psychotherapeutic practices and other comparable outpatient medical facilities. The regulations come into force on January 31, 2023.
Mask still recommended
Many people will be pleased that the mask requirement has been lifted for public transport, but wearing a mask is still recommended. This applies especially to people who are sick or ill and in closed rooms.
In the January 24, 2023 press release from the state of Baden-Württemberg, Minister Hermann appeals to people's personal responsibility: "Those who voluntarily want to protect themselves and others can continue to wear masks." Mouth-to-nose coverings not only help protect against coronavirus, but they also ward off cold or flu viruses. "If you feel sick or have a cold, continue to wear mask or it's best to stay home."
