Attention students: From March 1, 2023, you can travel throughout Baden-Württemberg by bus and train for just one euro a day. With the JugendticketBW, the government is not only implementing a point in the coalition agreement, but also ensuring that public transport becomes even more attractive and that you are relieved financially. The ticket is valid in all 19 transport associations in Baden-Württemberg. However, there is one exception: long-distance traffic - e.g. ICE, EC or IC.
What are the requirements for the Youth Ticket?
The new ticket is designed for two target groups and must not exceed the following age:
- Children and young people up to the age of 21.
- Schoolchildren, students, trainees and persons doing voluntary service up to the age of 27.
Another prerequisite is that you must either be a resident of Baden-Württemberg or that your school/university must be located in the state.
What does the Youth Ticket cost?
The ticket is only available as a subscription. The following regular subscription models will be available:
- Annual subscription: 365 € per year
- Monthly subscription: 30,42 € per month
For students whose university has a semester ticket agreement with the transport association, the amount is reduced by the solidarity fee. More information will follow.
Where can I buy the ticket?
The ticket will be offered in the sales outlets of the respective transport association. In addition, it will also be made available online. Whether the ticket is issued in paper form or as an e-ticket will be decided by the respective transport association.
For the Heilbronn public transport system (HNV), the ticket can be applied for at the HNV-ABO centers in Heilbronn, Wüstenrot and Künzelsau. However, this is not yet possible at the moment (as of January 17, 2023). When exactly it will be available is still unclear. We will keep you up to date.
Special feature for students of Heilbronn University
Heilbronn University (HHN) has a semester ticket agreement with the HNV/Kreisverkehr Schwäbisch Hall (KSVH). This means that with your semester fee you also pay a solidarity fee of 15 € which is deducted from the regular price of the semester ticket. Therefore, it will not yet be technically possible to issue the JugendticketBW as a subscription for the summer semester 2023 and winter semester 2023/24. For the time being, it will therefore be issued in the usual way as a half-year ticket at the usual points of sale.
- Price for the period from 01 March to 31 August 2023: 167.52 euros
Students aged 27 and over will still be able to purchase the regular semester ticket.
