The new special exhibition "Taste Questions" started at experimenta on June 27. In the self-designed show, you can explore your own preferences in the topics of food, music, living, love and fashion at 24 stations. The app "Unite in Taste" is based on the exhibition, but also offers fun and knowledge independent of the visit.
Whether in food, fashion or love - why do people like what they like? experimenta is getting to the bottom of this question with its self-developed special exhibition "Taste Questions". From June 27, 2022 to January 8, 2023, you can explore your own tastes and gain a new perspective on the many choices you make every day. "With Taste Questions, we deliberately want to build a bridge from science into our own lifeworld," explains Dr. Christian Sichau, head of the exhibition team at experimenta.
Discovery tour in colorful shopping mall
The new special exhibition is designed in the style of a colorful shopping mall, where guests go on a discovery tour in five sections on the themes of food, music, living, love and fashion. At the 24 hands-on stations, they are faced with a choice: Which foods are delicious, which are disgusting? What does their favorite chair look like - does it impress with its design or its function? Which ideals of beauty exist in people's minds and which voices are perceived as attractive? But it's not only decisions that are called for when visiting the exhibition, but also creativity: In the fashion theme area, visitors can design a sneaker themselves and compose a hit to dance along to on the music area.
With each station played, an individual profile is refined, showing visitors what constitutes their personal taste and what connects them to others - or distinguishes them from others. Through the emerging taste pattern, guests learn new things about themselves and can find out how unique their own taste really is, especially by comparing it with other profiles. "One important insight, however, is that there is no such thing as one right taste," emphasizes Dr. Christian Sichau. Different preferences are quite normal and nothing negative.
Opening hours and prices
The special exhibition "Taste Questions" will be on display at the Science Center experimenta in Heilbronn from June 27, 2022 to January 8, 2023. It is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on weekends and public holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The special exhibition is included in the experimenta admission price, but tickets for "Taste Questions" can also be purchased individually on site at the ticket office. In that case, a ticket costs 7.00 euros for adults and 4.00 euros for concessions.
