Short sto­ry com­pe­ti­tion of Heil­bronn University

What does it mean to be a stranger? How do those who feel for­eign feel? These are the ques­tions that the first HHN short sto­ry com­pe­ti­tion at the Künzel­sau Cam­pus brings to the fore. The total amount of prize mon­ey is 600 €.

With this com­pe­ti­tion, our uni­ver­si­ty would like to enable new authors to become cre­ative, to record thoughts or expe­ri­ences in a sto­ry, per­haps even to make new con­tacts and bring peo­ple clos­er together. 

Are you a new­com­er between the ages of 18 and 30 and have not yet pub­lished any texts? Then you are cor­dial­ly invit­ed to show your writ­ing tal­ent in a short sto­ry on the top­ic of „Strange­ness — Today I woke up in anoth­er coun­try”. to prove your skills. You are also wel­come to com­pete with a team of authors.

Online award cer­e­mo­ny with jury and audi­ence award

The three best short sto­ry authors will be invit­ed to take part in the onlineAward cer­e­mo­ny on Thurs­day, June 23, 2022 present their short sto­ry to the jury of experts and a broad audi­ence. In addi­tion, the three best short sto­ries will be pub­lished in a spe­cial edi­tion of HHN’s cul­tur­al newslet­ter ARTikel. In addi­tion, there will be cash prizes for the win­ner of the jury and the audi­ence award.

The prices are divid­ed as follows:

  • 200€ for the 1st place of the jury award
  • 200€ for the 1st place of the audi­ence award
  • 100€ for the 2nd and 3rd place winners

Clos­ing date is May 20, 2022

Until May 20, 2022 can send the short sto­ries (prose) as a PDF file via e‑mail with the sub­ject line „Fremd­sein” to kurzgeschichten.hs-heilbronnweb.de be sub­mit­ted. The short sto­ries should not exceed 6,000 words and should also be unpub­lished. In addi­tion, proof of age (ID card, driver’s license, etc.) should be enclosed, as well as an assur­ance of copy­right on the work. Racist, defam­a­to­ry and porno­graph­ic texts are nat­u­ral­ly exclud­ed from the competition.
